Marco Lattuada, Intesa Sanpaolo’s global head of investment banking and structured finance, has stepped down from his role to join French bank BNP Paribas, sources said.
Lattuada oversaw the Italian banking group's M&A, debt capital markets, equity capital markets and structured finance activities.
He is set to join BNP Paribas in February as deputy to Vittorio Ogliengo, the executive chairman of BNP Paribas' corporate and institutional banking unit in Italy, where he will have broad responsibilities to oversee investment banking activities, according to three sources familiar with the situation.
Spokespeople at Intesa Sanpaolo and BNP Paribas declined to comment. Lattuada did not respond to a request for comment.
Lattuada's move comes after the ranks of Intesa Sanpaolo's corporate and investment banking division led by Mauro Micillo swelled last year, particularly following the merger with UBI Banca, formerly Italy's fifth largest lender.
One of the sources said more exits of senior and rank and file members of the investment banking division are expected in the next couple of years.
Lattuada joined Intesa Sanpaolo in 2012 from Bank of America Merrill Lynch and was initially in charge of TMT before being promoted to head of investment banking in 2018.
