
Artá Capital and L Capital invest €85m in Pepe Jeans
Barcelona-based Pepe Jeans, the clothing business which owns UK brand Hackett, has raised a new round of expansion capital.
Luxury goods investor L Capital and Artá Capital (backed by Mercapital and the March family investment holding company Financiera Alba) have jointly taken a 27.9% stake in the business in return for an investment totalling €85m. The investment values Pepe Jeans at over €300m.
The deal, which sees Artá Capital take 16.4% of the business and L Capital an 11.5% stake, was structured as a capital increase. Existing investor Torreal, the financial holding company of the Spanish industrialist Juan Abelló, sees its stake dliuted from just under 42% to 31%. The remainder is held by the group's management team.
