
Caixa Capital Risc leads €700,000 series-C for Biótica
Caixa Capital Risc has led a €700,000 series-C round for Biótica Bioquímica Analítica, a Spanish biotech firm.
Majority shareholder Iproma, part of the industrial group Gimeno, and minority shareholder Clave Mayor, a Valencia-based venture capital firm, also participated in the round.
Caixa Capital Risc is reported to have invested through its Caixa Capital Micro II fund.
Previous funding
In 2008, Clave Mayor led a €290,000 series-A via its Conval Emprende fund.
More recently, the GP led an €800,000 series-B for the business in 2011. The private equity firm injected €400,000 as part of the round. The Fundación Genoma España, a project that promotes biotech business initiatives, contributed the remaining equity.
Company
Headquartered in Villarreal, Biótica was founded in 2005 and specialises in the development and commercialisation of a legionella detection kit, which is based on a microorganism-based detection technique. More recently, the firm developed a purification kit for infected water.
