
Caixa, Kibo sell Trip4real to Airbnb
Spanish VCs Caixa Capital Risc and Kibo Ventures have sold their stakes in Barcelona-based travel startup Trip4real to Airbnb.
The transaction follows a previous partnership agreement between the two complementary businesses, which was signed in 2014. According to local press reports, the transaction valued the company at €22m.
As part of the deal, the Catalan company will continue to operate under its proprietary brand.
Previous funding
In June 2014, Caixa and Kibo raised a €1m funding round for Trip4real, aiming to increase the company's international reach and boost its product development.
Company
Founded in 2013 and based in Barcelona, Trip4real develops a digital marketplace for travellers to list, search and book travel activities and tours guided by locals in categories such as gastronomy, architecture and music.
The company has further offices in Madrid, Seville, Valencia and San Sebastian. It employs 12 staff.
