
La Caixa leads €2.3m round for Worldcoo
Spanish venture capital house Caixa Capital Risc has led a €2.3m funding round for Barcelona-based online cooperation projects coordinator Worldcoo.
Including the previous €1.3m round raised from Horizon 2020 – the investment programme of the European Commission – Worldcoo has raised a total of €3.6m in 2016 so far.
Backers of the funding round include the venture capital vehicle Mnext Ventures, which is led and fully financed by Javier Faus, the founder of Spanish real estate and private equity house Meridia Capital, as well as several business angels, including Italian investor Alessandro Bianchi.
According to local press reports, the company intends to use the capital injection to expand its business across the European market, including in France, the UK, Germany, Italy and Portugal.
Previous funding
In July 2014, the company raised a €230,000 early-stage funding round from Banco Sabadell, Delta Partners and ONA Capital.
