Kibo Ventures leads €2m series-A for Gamelearn
Spanish venture capital house Kibo Ventures has led a €2m series-A funding round for digital game-based learning software developer Gamelearn.
As part of the deal, the GP will boost the company's international expansion mainly in Mexico, the US, France, Germany and the UK. The company also aims to use the capital injection to launch new products.
According to a statement, the business doubled its revenues in 2015 and 2016 but any financial details surrounding the transaction have not been disclosed.
The transaction follows the GP's recent launch of its Kibo Ventures Fund II, in December 2015. The vehicle has a €100m target and held a first close on €71m in October 2016.
The deal marked Kibo's second investment in digital gaming after a $2m funding round for Barcelona-based Omnidrone in February 2014.
Company
Established in 2007 and headquartered in Spain, Gamelearn develops video-games-based learning and training software. The business has a presence in 50 countries and, following the recent capital injection, it expects to double its revenues in 2017.
