
Talde exits Biópolis via trade sale
Spanish buyout firm Talde Private Equity has sold its 37% stake in microbial business Biópolis to US corporate Archer Daniels Midland (ADM).
The deal saw the GP, as largest shareholder, sell its 37% stake in the business alongside existing investors Corporación Alimentaria Peñasanta (Capsa) and listed French corporate Naturex. As part of the transaction, ADM acquired a 90% stake, while previous shareholder Superior Council for Scientific Research will retain the remaining stake.
Previous funding
Talde originally acquired a 15% stake via its evergreen vehicle, Talde Promotion and Development, as part of the company's spinout form Capsa in 2003, according to unquote" data.
Subsequently, the GP increased its stake in the company up to 37% in 2009.

Headquartered in Valencia, Biópolis develops micro-organisms for biochemistry, molecular biology, fermentation process scaling, genetics, chemical engineering, microbiology, nutrition and food technology.
Established in 2003, the company posted €5m in revenues in 2016 and employs a staff of 50.
