
Spark Capital leads $20m series-B for Verse
US-based venture capital house Spark Capital has led a $20m series-B round for Spanish mobile payment platform Verse.
Backers of the funding round include existing investors Greycroft Partners and eVentures. The current round comes seven months after an $8.3m series-A raised by the business in October 2016.
According to local press reports, Spark and the company's founders will retain a majority stake in the business following the current funding round.
Previous funding
An investor consortium consisting of Spark, Greycroft and eVentures led an $8.3m series-A funding for the business in October 2016.
Prior to this round, the company raised $1.8m in a seed funding round led by US-based venture capital firm DFJ in September 2015.

Co-headquartered in Barcelona and San Francisco, Verse was founded in 2015 and currently employs 19 people. The company develops a digital payment platform for mobile devices based on blockchain technology and claims a presence in 27 countries.
