
Sapphire Ventures backs Feedzai in $50m series-C
Sapphire Ventures has backed a $50m series-C funding round for Portuguese data services company Feedzai.
The VC firm is an existing investor and is joined in the round by another undisclosed investor. Other previous investors in the company include Oak HC/FT, Capital One Growth Ventures, Citi Ventures, First Data, Applied Ventures, Data Collective, Novabase Capital, EDP Ventures and Espírito Santo Ventures.
The fresh capital brings the total raised by the company to $82m from nine investors in total. In May 2011, Espírito Santo, Novabase and EDP invested approximately €1.1m in Feedzai.
With the new funding, Feedzai intends to globally expand its artificial intelligence fraud prevention platform.

Founded in 2009, Feedzai is based in Coimbra, Portugal, and has two additional offices there, as well as offices in London, New York and Silicon Valley. The firm provides Complex Event Processing (CEP) services for small and large organisations in the telecommunications, banking and utility markets.
