
Ardian's Italmatch buys Sudamfos do Brasil
Ardian-backed Italmatch Chemicals Group has acquired Sudamfos do Brasil, a Brazilian speciality chemical distribution and marketing company.
Italmatch is aiming to bolster its presence in the Latin American market through the transaction. It follows the acquisition of Compass Chemical International in North America, highlighting an increased focus on the continent.
Prior to the transaction, Italmatch had six manufacturing plants in Europe, four in Asia and two in North America. It employed 500 people and generated revenues of more than €340m.
Previous funding
Ardian is Italmatch's fifth private equity owner. It acquired the group from Mandarin Capital Partners for an undisclosed sum in June 2014.
The company has previously been owned by Investindustrial, Argos Soditic and Iniziativa Piemonte.

Sudamfos was founded in 1919 by German immigrants in Argentina and expanded across Latin America. The multinational company was broken up in 2013 and the Brazilian subsidiary became headquartered in São Paulo. It markets and distributes phosphonates, phosphates and other speciality chemical products.
