Cabiedes & Partners, Highgrowth et al. exit Smadex
Cabiedes & Partners, Highgrowth Partners, Trovit Search and 101 Startups have sold their stakes in Smadex, a Spanish mobile advertising startup, to Argentina-based Headway.
According to a statement, Smadex will be fully integrated into Headway, bringing its video, user acquisition and re-engagement mobile programmatic capabilities to Headway's 500 clients worldwide.
Headway, a provider of mobile, programmatic data, is a business unit of New York-listed Entravision Communications, a California-based media company.
Previous funding
After an initial funding of €250,000 from a Spanish private investor, which allowed the startup to launch its first operations, Smadex raised €600,000 in 2012 from Barcelona-based venture capital firm Highgrowth, which invested in the company via its Highgrowth Innovation fund, alongside Be Capital.
The startup raised another €600,000 funding round in 2013 from Cabiedes, 101 Startups, Trovit and several business angels to support its expansion in Europe and Latin America.
Company
Founded in 2010 and headquartered in Barcelona, Smadex provides a mobile platform based on machine learning algorithms for marketers to produce media advertising on smartphones and tablets. The company has launched campaigns in Spain, Italy, the UK, Argentina, Mexico, Chile, Colombia and Guatemala. Smadex opened an office in London in 2014.
