Alpha-backed Remazel buys Italian crane specialist Concrane
Alpha Private Equity portfolio company Remazel Engineering, an Italian manufacturer of machinery for the oil and gas industry, has wholly acquired Italy-based crane manufacturer Concrane.
With this acquisition, the GP plans to consolidate Remazel's market position across Europe and further boost its international expansion.
Alpha acquired a 60% stake in Remazel in August 2014 from Miro Radici Family of Companies, Media Finanziaria di Partecipazione and the company's CEO, Gianfranco Gamba. The vendors retained the remaining 40% holding in the business.
Alpha invested in the company via its sixth fund, which closed on €700m in 2012.
Company
Established in 1946, Trieste-based Concrane designs and manufactures offshore, deck and hose handling cranes, as well as specialist cranes and winches. It generates annual revenues of around €8m.
