Corpfin-backed Grupo 5 sells six nursing homes to Korian
Corpfin Capital-backed Grupo 5, which operates a network of mental health and elderly care clinics, has sold six nursing homes located in the Balearic Islands to French provider of elderly care Korian.
With this acquisition, Korian plans to strengthen its platform in Spain by expanding the offering of Seniors, a Spanish company acquired in early 2019.
Korian employs 53,000 staff, operates 850 facilities and generated a 14% EBITDA margin from revenues of €3.3bn in 2018.
Corpfin acquired a 98% stake in Grupo 5 in June 2017 via its Corpfin Capital Fund IV. The vehicle targets buyout and growth-capital opportunities in Spanish companies with EBITDA of more than €5m and an enterprise value of €25-200m.
Company
Founded in 1988, Grupo 5 operates a network of 130 mental health, neurologic rehabilitation and elderly care clinics located across Spain – in Madrid, Andalusia, Extremadura, Asturias, Valencia, the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands – and in Chile. The company employs 2,100 staff and generated revenues of €67m in 2018. The six facilities sold by Grupo 5 are located in Mallorca and serve 700 residents.
