
Alantra sells Ingenium's Spanish mobile business to Orange España
Telecommunications specialist Grupo Ingenium, a portfolio company of Alantra Private Equity, has sold its mobile business, Suma Móvil Spain, to mobile network operator Orange España.
he sale is limited to Ingenium's Suma mobile business unit in Spain and does not include the operations of Suma in other countries.
With the acquisition of Suma Móvil Spain, Orange España intends to consolidate its wholesale business and further develop its offering in the mobile telephony and fibre segments for small and medium-sized companies based across Spain.
Following this sale, Ingenium plans to strengthen the activity of the other divisions of the group, such as JSC Ingenium, Alineasol, Alai Secure and Suma International, both in Spain and internationally. It also intends to undertake new business projects and further increase its commitment to develop its R&D division and proprietary state-of-the-art technology.
Alantra acquired a majority holding in Grupo Ingenium in July 2018. The GP bought a stake of around 60%, while the founders and managers, Sergio Cano and José Losada, retained a minority holding. The investment was made via Alantra PEF III fund, which held a final close on €450m in February 2017 and is now around 50% deployed.
Founded in 2009 and based in Madrid, Grupo Ingenium develops technology for virtual mobile operators and critical communications such as tele-assistance and private security. The company has clients in 11 countries worldwide and employs 100 staff.
