Miura exits Tiendanimal
Miura Private Equity has sold its stake in Spanish pet care product retailer Tiendanimal to Emefin, a Peruvian family office that manages pet retailer Superpet.
Emefin recently bought Spanish pet care specialist Kipenzi from TA Associates and Meridia Capital, in a deal that valued the company at around €200m.
Miura acquired a 51% stake in Tiendanimal via a capital increase in October 2014 by deploying capital from Miura Fund II. The fund closed on its €200m hard-cap in September 2014.
Under Miura's ownership, Tiendanimal consolidated its market position in Spain and Portugal, expanded in France and Italy, and opened several new stores in commercial centres across Iberia.
Furthermore, the company increased its revenues from €27m in 2014 to €113m in 2019 by boosting its organic growth and expanding into new market segments.
Company
Founded in 2006 and based in Malaga, Tiendanimal sells branded and own-brand pet care products, including food and soaps. The business employs 120 staff and generated revenues of €113m in 2019.
