P101 in €3.5m round for food marketplace Soplaya
Venture capital house P101 has led a €3.5m seed round for Soplaya, an Italian startup that offers an online marketplace for food producers and restaurants.
CDP Venture Capital, via Fondo Nazionale Innovazione, also took part in the investment.
P101 deployed €3m from P102 and Italia 500, while Fondo Nazionale Innovazione provided the remainder.
Programma 102 is a €65m vehicle that targets Italian digital and technology startups offering B2C and B2B services to the food, fashion, design, travel, real estate, financial technology and cybersecurity sectors. Italia 500 is a venture capital fund launched by Azimut Libera Impresa and managed by P101.
Soplaya intends to use the fresh financing to further consolidate its position across the Italian market and expand in 10 new cities by 2022. It also plans to scale up its team, develop new features to improve its users' experience, launch its service on Android and iOS apps and develop new algorithms able to increase the level of customer personalisation and optimise data analysis. Soplaya expects to reach revenues of €10m by 2021.
This is the first round raised by the startup from institutional investors and follows two pre-seed investments received from business angels in 2018 and 2020.
