
Samaipata Ventures raises €100m second fund
Spanish venture capital firm Samaipata Ventures is raising a new fund, Samaipata II, with a тЌ100m target.
The vehicle has received commitments of €75m so far and has held an interim close in the summer. It expects to hold a final close in the coming months.
The fund is larger than its predecessor, which closed on €30m in 2016.
Founded in 2016 by Jose del Barrio and Eduardo Diez-Hochleitner, the firm specialises in investing in digital stratups to fuel their growth and expansion.
Investors
Samaipata II has built an LP base primarily composed of institutional investors and family offices.
Investments
The fund plans to invest in 20-25 European startups, primarily digital platforms and marketplaces. It targets pre-seed and seed rounds, deploying initial tickets of up to €1.5m and subsequently using the remaining capital for follow-on investments of up to €10m per company.
The fund targets Iberia as well as the rest of Europe, primarily France, Italy, Germany and the UK. It has already made three investments.
