Caixa Capital Risc launches Caixa Innvierte Start fund
Spanish investor Caixa Capital Risc, La Caixa's venture capital arm, has launched its startup-dedicated fund, Caixa Innvierte Start.
The new vehicle raised a €20m committed capital and targets Spanish startup businesses mainly in the biotechnology sector, but also the nanotechnology and photonics industries. The fund aims to back companies' product development and team expansion.
Caixa Innvierte Start will boost Caixa's investment in scientific businesses, alongside previous vehicles Caixa Capital BioMed and Caixa Capital BioMed II.
According to a statement, the targeted companies do not need to generate revenues at the time of the transaction and the GP aims to exit the investments to sector-specialised investors.
Investments
The fund targets early-stage investments in the €500,000-2m range in Spanish startups. The GP aims to acquire minority stakes in the targeted businesses alongside sector-specialised co-investors.
