21 Partners-backed Forno d’Asolo acquires La Donatella
21 Partners-backed Forno d’Asolo has wholly acquired Venice-based bakery products business La Donatella.
The buyout house, led by Alessandro Benetton, did not provide fresh capital to support the transaction.
The deal marks the first acquisition for Treviso-based Forno d'Asolo since 21 Partners' investment in February 2014, when the GP bought a majority stake in the bakery products company from the founding family.
The acquisition will allow Forno d'Asolo to expand its production within the sector and boost its expansion in the European market.
As part of the deal, Katia Marconato from La Donatella's founding family will remain part of the company's management board.
Company
Founded in 1946 and headquartered in Jesolo, close to Venice, La Donatella produces bakery products, including tiramisu, for the retail and restauration sectors.
The company exports in the UK, the US, France, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
It generated €15m of revenues in 2015, 30% of which came through export across Europe and the US.
Forno d'Asolo posted an €87m turnover in 2015.
