Ex-Investec James Stirling joins Westbrooke's debt fund
James Stirling, the former head of Investec's growth and acquisition finance team, has joined Westbrooke Alternative Asset Management as a managing director in the private debt team.
Stirling will start in his new role at Westbrooke on 1 September. The London-based firm is a privately-owned multi-asset manager - Stirling will lead its Dynamic Opportunities private debt fund.
The fund has a flexible investment mandate to deploy capital primarily via secured credit structures, as well as via subordinated debt and preferred equity investments, to sponsor-backed and owner-managed UK businesses generating £1-10m EBITDA, typically to support growth, acquisitions, shareholder reorganisations and recapitalisations.
Stirling left Investec in March 2019 after 14 years at the firm. Having joined as a consultant in the growth and acquisition finance team in 2005, he became head of the firm's "emerging companies" business, providing structured debt and minority equity to UK companies making £1-3m EBITDA to fund MBOs, acquisitions, organic growth and succession planning. He was then appointed as head of growth and acquisition finance in 2016.
