Advent Life Sciences hires three partners
Advent Life Sciences, a European venture and growth investor, has hired three partners as the sector continues to attract increasing investor attention.
The firm has hired Dominic Schmidt in the UK as general partner, as well as Satish Jindal as general partner and Katrine Bosley as venture partner, both based in Boston, USA.
Advent Life Sciences' team now stands at 18 professionals.
Schmidt joins after eight years at Syncona, the venture investment arm of the Wellcome Trust, where he was involved in the founding, funding and building of several life science companies. One of these, Gyroscope Therapeutics, was acquired by Novartis.
Jindal previous served as CEO of BioMotiv, an early-stage investment fund based in Cleveland, among other life science roles, while Bosley has held executive positions and sat on the boards of multiple life science companies over 30 years, including Arrakis Therapeutics and DaCapo Brainscience.
The firm closed its latest venture fund Advent Life Sciences Fund III alongside the Advent-Harrington Impact Fund in February 2021, collectively raising USD 215m.
The bolstered team comes at a time when large generalist GPs are increasing their attention on the life sciences sector, either through taking stakes in specialist asset managers or launching specialist funds of their own.
ICG revealed yesterday in its full-year results that it may launch a life sciences fund in the next year, while Apollo has recently taken a minority stake in French life sciences investor Sofinnova.
