MML-backed Arena makes Asian bolt-on
MML Capital-backed Arena has acquired Malaysia-based Asia Tent International.
The deal was financed with internal resources as well as funding from Irish bank AIB.
The Arena Group is a UK-based event infrastructure provider. MML originally backed Arena in February 2012 when it led a £16.5m funding round alongside Sport Investment Partners. MML contributed £15m alongside a £1.5m co-investment from SIP. It took on a significant minority stake in the business as a result and suggested the funds were earmarked for international expansion.
In April 2013 Arena acquired Karl's Event Services in the US.
Headquartered in St Ives, Arena provides bespoke temporary venues for events including sports, music, broadcasting, media, corporate brand events, conferences and exhibitions. With divisions within the company including Arena Seating, Arena Structures, Arena Scaffolding, Arena Overlay and Arena Interiors, the company operates across the globe including Europe, the Middle East, America and Asia. Arena was involved in the construction of venues for the Olympic Games in London last year.
