
Montagu reaches €2bn first close on new fund
Montagu Private Equity is to tell its investors it has reached a €2bn first close on its new fund, according to media reports.
The firm is looking to raise €2.5bn to invest in defensive companies worth between €100m and €1bn. Montagu recently acquired HH Survival, the survival equipment division of Norwegian clothing brand Helly Hansen.
HSBC, which owns a 19.9% stake in Montagu, is expected to commit to 5% of the fund, if UK banking regulations enable it.
