Palio Capital Partners raising debt fund for UK SMEs
Palio Capital Partners has secured a cornerstone investment from the European Investment Fund, raising a third of its anticipated £100m first close.
Palio Capital Partners – founded and led by ex-Gresham Private Equity managing director Mike Henebery – is also one of the fund managers bidding for a commitment from the UK government's £1bn Business Finance Partnership initiative.
Palio's Superflex Fund I will provide senior debt and mezzanine loans to UK businesses valued in the £10-100m range and capable of attracting private equity investments.
The firm estimates that UK SMEs will need debt funding and refinancing to the tune of £25bn between 2012 and 2016. It is also hoping to capitalise on the current appetite for alternative debt providers.
