Connection commits to DN and Beechbrook
Connection Capital, the private client investment firm, has committed to recently closed funds DN Capital Global Venture Capital III and Beechbrook Mezzanine II.
The commitments see Connection's private clients able to access two specialist alternative asset funds, a trend that appears to be growing within the asset class.
Elsewhere in the market, Pantheon has made its funds available to high-net-worth clients; in June it launched its Pantheon Private Wealth fund, whereby individuals can commit minimum investments of $50,000.
Connection Capital aggregates private investor cash and family office capital into a single syndicate, enabling clients to access funds at a lower entry level than institutional investors.
Beechbrook Mezzanine II hit its €150m hard-cap in July and will invest through unitranche loans and mezzanine facilities. Connection joins other investors in the fund, the European Investment Fund and the UK Department for Business, Innovation and Skills.
DN Capital closed its third European venture fund, DN Capital Global Venture Capital III on €144m yesterday, substantially over its €100m target.
As well as investing in alternative funds, Connection also invests directly into private equity deals and property transactions on a deal-by-deal basis. Recent examples include Virgin Wines, where it invested alongside Mobeus Equity Partners, and a £4.1m investment in wind turbine installer Earthmill.
