Sovereign Capital promotes Matthew Owen to partner
Sovereign Capital has promoted Matthew Owen to partner at the firm.
Prior to his promotion to partner, Owen worked in Sovereign's research and origination team, which he joined in 2004. His promotion follows the recent appointment of Monica Bergvall as an investment manager in the origination team. As partner, Owen will work alongside managing partner Andrew Hayden and fellow partners Dominic Dalli, David Myers, Michael Needley and Kevin Whittle.
Owen primarily focuses on investments in the business services sector. He has been a member of Sovereign's Investment Committee since June 2011 and holds board positions at a number of portfolio companies.
Businesses identified by Owen include the platform investment The IMS Group and its first three bolt-ons, including MMS Regulatory Solutions and HedgeOp Compliance.
Prior to joining Sovereign, Owen was a partner at Capital Strategies Corporate Finance, where he led the company's MBO.
Sovereign is a UK-based buy-and-build specialist that invests up to £50m of equity per business. The firm focuses on service-based sectors such as business support services, healthcare and education & training.
