Imperial leads £3.2m round for SAM Labs
Imperial Innovations has invested ТЃ2m as part of a ТЃ3.2m funding round for SAM Labs, a UK provider of electronic kits enabling children to work on Internet-of-Things (IoT) projects.
The fresh capital, which was provided by the Imperial Ventures division of Imperial Innovations, will reportedly enable the company to invest in new product development and recruitment across its sales and support teams.
Imperial Innovations has been particularly active since the start of 2016, with SAM Labs marking its sixth investment so far. According to unquote" data, the firm made a total of four deals in 2015.
Most recently, Imperial took part in a £2m round for oil & gas sensor devices manufacturer Silicon Microgravity and led a £13.5m funding round for retinal therapeutics business Precision Ocular.

Founded in 2014 and headquartered in London, SAM Labs produces electronic kits that enable school children to produce IoT-related projects. To date it has primarily targeted parents, though it now intends to sell its products directly to schools.
