Carlyle Cardinal invests in Learning Pool
Carlyle Cardinal Ireland has invested in Northern Ireland-based e-learning company Learning Pool.
The investment will be used to further the company's growth and drive product innovation.
The deal marks Carlyle Cardinal's first in Northern Ireland, where the GP is understood to be looking for further investments. Equity for the deal came from Carlyle Cardinal Ireland, a €292m fund that closed in July 2014.
According to Carlyle Cardinal, the UK e-learning market is worth £675m and growing by 10% each year as companies increasingly spend more of their training budgets online.
Company
Based in Derry, Learning Pool provides online learning services to organisations in the UK. The company's main client base is local councils, of which 80% use Learning Pool's products for staff training, according to the business.
Learning Pool was founded in 2006 and employs 80 people. The company counts 1.25 million individual users from 350 companies and government bodies, including the NHS, the UK Houses of Parliament, Jury's Inn, Capita and British Sugar.
