TowerBrook backs Gravity Media Group
TowerBrook Capital Partners has taken a minority stake in British broadcast services business Gravity Media Group.
The GP invested through its 2013-vintage $3.5bn fund to support the global expansion of Gravity Media, though the immediate growth focus will be on the US.
Gravity Media founder and CEO John Newton will remain majority shareholder alongside his company's existing management team following TowerBrook's investment. The GP's Gordon Holmes will join the board as a non-executive director with former Madison Square Garden CEO Dave Checketts.
Company
Founded in 2000 following an MBO by the founder and company management, Gravity Media comprises broadcast services companies Gearhouse Broadcast and Hyperactive Broadcast. The group provides broadcast equipment rental and sales, as well as systems integration for film, TV and live broadcasts.
Gravity Media's subsidiaries have provided services to projects including the French Open, Formula One, the 2016 Euros and X Factor.
The group employs a combined 220 people across its Watford headquarters and offices in the US, Australia, France and UAE.
