BGF Ventures leads £4m series-A for Marvel
BGF Ventures has led a £4m series-A funding round for app design and prototyping software company Marvel.
Existing backers including Index Ventures, Connect Ventures and Inreach Ventures also took part in the round, alongside angel investors Andy McLoughlin and Richard Fearn.
The fresh capital will enable the company to undertake a recruitment drive, with a particular focus on its sales and marketing team. It will also enable the company to invest in product development.
The deal comes one month after Marvel expanded internationally, via the acquisition of Taiwanese competitor POP.
Previous funding
In December 2014, Connect provided $800,000 of seed funding for Marvel. Index and Connect then provided a $2m round of seed funding to the developer eight months later.
Company
Founded in 2013, London-headquartered Marvel produces software for designing and prototyping apps, websites, touchscreen vending systems and other programs. Its products are used by freelancers and companies, as well as in schools and universities.
Marvel's clients include Marks & Spencer, Transferwise, Deliveroo and Go Cardless.
