Edge invests £2.4m in Newsflare
Edge Investments has invested ТЃ2.4m for a minority stake in British online video marketplace Newsflare.
The deal marks the first investment from the Edge Creative Enterprise Fund, a £40m vehicle that closed in November 2015 with backing from the British Business Bank. The fund makes investments in cultural and creative organisations.
Following the deal, the company will undertake an international expansion strategy, with a particular focus on the US and Japanese markets. Edge investment director David Fisher will also take a seat on the Newsflare board.

Founded in 2011 and launched in beta mode in 2013, London-headquartered Newsflare in an online platform allowing users to upload video content, which is then licensed to international media companies. The business shares a 50% sales commission on footage with video uploaders. Its European clients include the BBC, Bild.de, MailOnline and Sky News.
