Mobeus leads £3m funding round for tutoring website MyTutor
Mobeus Equity Partners has led a £3m round for online tutoring platform MyTutor.
Angel investors Clive Cowdery and Thomas Hoegh also participated in the funding round. The investment will be Mobeus's seventh growth capital deal in the last 12 months, with a total of £19m committed. Over this time, it has also completed two buyout deals. Its investments in growth capital deals are undertaken by its series of venture capital trusts.
The capital will be used to support growth domestically as the company aims to consolidate the UK's fragmented market, which MyTutor estimates is worth £2bn, and to expand into the school and university markets. Mobeus's Amit Hindocha led the deal and will join the board.
Company
Established in 2013 by co-founders Bertie Hubbard, Robert Grabiner and James Grant, MyTutor aims to connect school pupils seeking private one-on-one tuition to high-performing university students, who in turn receive an income. It currently employs 16 people.
