Smedvig, Panoramic back content creation firm Quill
UK growth and venture capital investors Panoramic Growth Equity and Smedvig Capital have backed content creation business Quill.
The investment will be used to scale up the firm's operations, invest in its proprietary Quill cloud software and enter new markets in Europe and the US.
Smedvig, which took part in an earlier funding round, has now invested a total of £5m in the business, while Panoramic has declined to disclose the amount it put in. The latest funding round takes Quill's total funding over three rounds to £10m.
Panoramic partner Malcolm Kpedekpo will join the board as part of the transaction. The deal is the third for Panoramic's second fund, which held its final close in May 2016 on its hard-cap of £65m.
Previous funding
Smedvig led a £5m funding round for Quill in March 2014. Smedvig was joined in the round by a collection of existing investors. Quill had previously received early-stage funding from Toptable founder Karen Hanton, Spotify's Shakil Khan and Ariadne Capital Entrepreneurs Fund.
Company
Founded in 2011 by entrepreneur Ed Bussey, Quill utilises a network of 2,000 freelance content creators to produce primary content. It works with 170 brands including John Lewis, House of Fraser, eBay, Mothercare and Zalando. It is based in London.
