KCP injects £4m into Sparta Global
Key Capital Partners (KCP) has invested £4m in exchange for a significant minority stake in UK-based IT consultancy business Sparta Global.
Following the transaction, Sparta will undertake geographic expansion, opening new offices in Leeds and Birmingham, with the intention of recruiting 100 people in 2018.
As part of the deal, KCP partner Philip Duquenoy will take a seat on the Sparta board.
KCP said it was attracted to the investment as the demand for homegrown UK talent is likely to increase following the Brexit vote. In particular, the firm expects technology talent in the fintech and insurance space to become scarce following the country's departure from the EU while the demand increases for systems required to replace those currently operated from Brussels.
The deal is the fourth investment made by KCP in 2017.
Company
Founded in 2013 and headquartered in Richmond, Sparta provides IT consultancy and training. It generates a turnover of £16m, according to a statement, with clients including Channel 4, Three Mobile and the Ministry of Justice. Sparta has a headcount of 160.
