BGF backs Walker Precision Engineering
BGF has invested £4m in high-precision component manufacturer Walker Precision Engineering.
The capital will be used to expand its business in the UK and mainland Europe, which will involve investment at its Glasgow headquarters, moving its Basildon operations to a new facility and doubling its manufacturing capacity in Poland.
The family-owned company has seen an increase in demand for its products in the space market, BGF said. Chris Melrose, a non-executive director of aerospace, defence and security trade association ADS, has joined Walker as non-executive chair.
Company
Established in 1979, Walker Precision Engineering has premises in Glasgow, Basildon and Poland. It manufactures and assembles complex parts for the aerospace, defence and industrial sectors and has 250 staff. In the year to September 2016, the company generated £12m in sales.
