BGF invests £3m in Ruroc
BGF has backed action sports protection specialist Ruroc with a £3m investment.
Ruroc will use the fresh capital to support the launch of its new Atlas motorcycle helmet, open a new office in China, and continue to invest in product development and sales and marketing. The company also intends to expand its team, which has grown from seven to 35 employees – including designers, developers and digital specialists – in 16 months.
BGF's investors Alex Garfitt and Dan Tapson will be working with the company to support its new phase of expansion.
Company
Headquartered in Gloucester, Ruroc specialises in action sports products, including a full-face helmet with detachable face mask and fully ventilated magnetic goggle lens. The company exports around 90% of its production outside the UK to 80 countries worldwide. During the past 12 months, Ruroc has significantly increased its sales in Asia in response to the Winter Olympics, especially in South Korea and in China, where the company recorded a 310% and 205% growth in online sales, respectively.
