NorthEdge's Direct Healthcare Group bolts on Qbitus
NorthEdge Capital-backed Direct Healthcare Group (DHG), a British manufacturer of mattresses and pillows for the healthcare sector, has acquired Qbitus Products, a UK-based pressure-relieving cushions supplier.
This is the fourth bolt-on inked by DHG in the last two years, following the acquisitions of pressure care management business Direct Healthcare Services, bariatric rental specialist Nightingale Care Beds, seating product manufacturer Kirton Healthcare, and pressure care brand Transflo Cushion.
Following this last acquisition, the company expects to reach a turnover of £24m in 2018.
NorthEdge acquired DHG in April 2016, in a management buyout that marked the GP's first investment in the healthcare sector. Capital for the acquisition was drawn from NorthEdge's first fund, a £225m vehicle that held its final close in March 2013.
Under NorthEdge's management, the company has grown by making strategic acquisitions, strengthened its product offering and increased its headcount from 62 to 180 people.
Company
Based in Halifax and founded in the 1980s, Qbitus supplies bespoke, pressure-relieving cushions to the NHS and its wheelchair services, as well as direct buyers. The company has two UK-based manufacturing plants.
