Battery Ventures' PPT bolts on Mecmesin
Battery Ventures portfolio company Physical Properties Testing (PPT Holdings) has bolted on Mecmesin, a UK-based manufacturer of force and torque testing equipment.
The deal is the first bolt-on for the buy-and-build platform following its maiden acquisition of James Heal in September 2014.
Mecmesin will continue operating under its existing brand and will invest in product development following the deal, while the wider group will continue to pursue additional bolt-on opportunities, according to a statement.
The GP intends to create a global group providing testing across various standards, materials and applications.
As part of the latest deal, Don Templeman – chairperson of James Heal and executive in residence at Battery Ventures – will take on the role of chairperson and director at Mecmesin, while the rest of the existing board of directors will remain in their roles.
Company
Founded in 1977 and headquartered in Slinfold, West Sussex, Mecmesin designs and produces force and torque testing machines used to assess the quality of raw materials, components and finished products in laboratories and manufacturing plants. The business generated a turnover of £12.85m in 2017, according to publicly available documents.
