Index, Balderton et al. invest $7m in Credit Benchmark
Index Ventures, Balderton Capital and Communitas Capital have participated in a $7m funding round for Credit Benchmark, a credit analytics firm.
A group of private investors including former Goldman Sachs vice-chair Michael Sherwood also invested in the round. Sherwood will join Credit Benchmark’s board of directors.
Both Balderton Capital and Index Ventures were involved with Credit Benchmark’s previous rounds of funding. To date, Credit Benchmark has raised $34m in venture backing since its launch in 2015.
Credit Benchmark said the latest round of funding would help it reach its goal of becoming a global standard for credit and risk management. It plans to grow its contributor base to 50 banks by the end of next year and add non-bank contributors such as insurance companies.
Previous funding
Balderton led a $20m for Credit Benchmark in July 2015, which Index also participated in.
Index led a $7m series-A in July 2014, when Credit Benchmark announced the launch of its commercial service for banks.
