Downing injects £7m into Anker
Downing has invested ТЃ7m in UK-based shipping company Anker Shipping alongside German trade backers HS Schiffahrt and Nordic Hamburg in order to support the acquisition of a container vessel.
The transaction is the GP's second investment in the shipping space, following a £5m investment in Garthcliff Shipping in March 2018.
Following the Anker deal, HS Schiffahrt will oversee the technical management of the newly acquired feeder vessel, while Nordic Hamburg will advise on commercial operations.
According to a statement issued by Downing, the vessel will require substantial maintenance work before it is fit to be chartered.
