Lakestar, Jungle Ventures lead $29.5m series-A for Engineer.ai
Venture capital houses Lakestar and Jungle Ventures have led a $29.5m series-A funding round for London- and Los Angeles-headquartered AI specialist Engineer.ai.
The round also saw the participation of Softbank's DeepCore, a venture capital fund that invests in seed and early-stage AI startups.
Company
Founded in 2012 and headquartered in London and Los Angeles (with further offices in Delhi and Tokyo), Engineer.ai is a platform to build bespoke software using human-assisted AI.
The startup's key product is Builder, a tool that allows users to create apps, websites and marketplaces for their business without coding. The company's customer base includes BBC, Virgin Group and the San Francisco Giants. It generates revenues of $24m and expects to reach a turnover of $100m by 2020.
