
Aurelius-backed Bertram bolts on Education Umbrella
Books retailer Bertram Group, a portfolio company of Aurelius Equity Opportunities, has acquired Education Umbrella, a supplier of books and digital learning resources.
Aurelius acquired Bertram, originally known as Connect Books, in December 2017 in a carve-out from its parent company, Connect Group. The division comprised six brands and had projected revenues of €250m for 2017. Following the acquisition, the business was rebranded as Bertram Group.

Established in 2011 and based in Bristol, Education Umbrella provides print and digital learning resources to schools around the world. The company has recently launched digital publishing platform Education Umbrella Press and has developed TECbook, an online e-book system that converts books from educational publishers into digital format and TECvideo, a video-based learning tool.
