Octopus et al. in $42m series-B for Elvie
Women's healthtech startup Elvie has raised a $42m series-B founding round led by Michael Spencer's private holding company IPGL and supported by Octopus Ventures and Impact Ventures UK.
The company plans to use the fresh capital to accelerate its research and development efforts, and increase the distribution of its apps and devices Elvie Pump and Elvie Trainer across Europe, the Americas and Asia.
Previous funding
Elvie received £2.4m in seed funding in December 2013, and a further £1.2m in May 2014 from government grants.
Subsequently, UK-based Octopus Ventures led a £5m series-A funding round for the company, alongside VC firm AllBright, in March 2017.
Company
Founded in 2013 and based in London, Elvie develops healthcare technology for women. The company's first product, Elvie Trainer, offers an app-connected device that helps women strengthen their pelvic floor using five-minute workouts with real time biofeedback. In addition, Elvie launched a new device last year, Elvie Pump, a silent wearable breast pump able to offer women more freedom and mobility.
