LDV leads $3.1m funding round for Synthesia
LDV Capital has led a $3.1m funding round for UK-headquartered video software company Synthesia.
MMC Ventures, Seedcamp, VAS Ventures and Tiny VC also took part in the round, alongside angel investors including TransferWise co-founder Taavet Hinrikus, advertising executive Nigel Morris and existing backer Mark Cuban.
Since its launch in 2018, the company's platform - which enables lip-synched video translation - has been used by media brands including BuzzFeed and the BBC.
Company
Founded in 2017, London-headquartered Synthesia develops software that uses animation and artificial intelligence techniques to synchronise the lip movements of an actor with a dubbing track. It has a library of stock video content, meaning that users can create personalised and interactive video content and translate it into multiple languages by providing scripts or audio files. In addition to the BBC and Buzzfeed, its clients include McCann Worldgroup, Accenture, Axiata Group and Dallas Mavericks.
