PE-backed Walkers Transport buys MTH Express Services
Total Capital Partners' Walkers Transport, a transport and third-party logistics specialist, has acquired domestic peer MTH Express Services from Palletways.
Following the acquisition, the enlarged Walkers Transport group will have a combined turnover of £48m.
In 2017, Total Capital Partners backed the £20m management buyout of Walkers Transport, led by CEO Richard Simpson, making a hybrid debt and equity investment of £13.5m in exchange for a 60% equity stake in the company.
Founded in 1979, Leeds-headquartered Walkers Transport is a logistics company providing pallet collection and delivery, freight forwarding, and warehouse services. Walkers Transport moves 1.2 million pallets each year.
Company
MTH, which also traded as Palletways 51, operates a fleet of trucks specialised in pallet transportation. Based in Fradley, it covers the areas of Staffordshire, Shropshire and Derbyshire. MTH generated sales of circa £9m in 2018.
