HPE Growth injects $32m in Zava series-A
HPE Growth has injected $32m in London-based telehealth specialist Zava, a provider of online medical assistance services.
The new funding will also be used to expand Zava's medical and technology capabilities, in order to offer new services for patients across Europe, with women's health a near-term focus, according to the Tech Crunch website.
The business had only previously raised an angel round of $1.4m in 2012 from an entrepreneur in Hamburg, but was profitable until the end of 2018, the report says.
The fresh capital by HPE Growth will support the business in its collaboration with statutory healthcare systems in the UK, Germany and France, says the Businesscloud website.
Company
Founded in 2010 and based in London, Zava provides online medical services, offering an alternative to an in-person doctor visit. It relies on patients filling in an online medical questionnaire. Test kits or medicine can follow in the post or be sent to a pharmacy for the patient to collect.
Every month, almost 100,000 patients access Zava from the UK, Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland and Ireland to seek advice, tests or treatment, according to a report by the Businesscloud website.
