LocalGlobe, Oxford Capital lead $5m round for Zamna
Venture capital firms LocalGlobe and Oxford Capital have led a $5m seed funding round for UK cybersecurity specialist Zamna.
Seedcamp, the London Co-Investment Fund (LCIF), Telefonica and several angel investors also took part in the round, alongside existing investor International Airlines Group (IAG).
The company intends to use the fresh funding to further develop its proprietary passenger information validation platform and expand its client base.
Previous funding
Zamna raised £15,000 and £700,000 in seed funding in September 2016 and February 2017, respectively, followed by an investment of an undisclosed amount provided by IAG in April 2017.
Company
Founded in 2016 and headquartered in London, Zamna, formerly known as VChain Technology, provides a blockchain-powered data verification platform that checks and connects passenger data sets between airlines, governments and security agencies to streamline the airport check-in process and improve airport security.
Its platform is built on proprietary algorithms designed to check the accuracy of advanced passenger information and biometric data, and connect the passenger data sets currently siloed between airlines, governments and security agencies.
In addition to its partnership with IAG, Zamna has also recently started working with Emirates Airline and the UAE's General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners (GDRFA) for checks on passengers travelling through Emirates Airline airports.
