SEP-backed Dotmatics acquires BioBright
Scottish Equity Partners (SEP) portfolio company Dotmatics has acquired BioBright.
The combined portfolio of BioBright will be available from Dotmatics, meaning that customers will have the ability to automate their research data workflows without needing to manage multiple vendor relationships. All employees from the company will be staying on.
SEP invested in Dotmatics, a provider of data analysis software for scientific testing processes, in October 2017. The firm invested via Scottish Equity Partners V, which held a final close on £260m in November 2016 and makes investments of up to £25m.
The size of the stake acquired by SEP remains undisclosed, though according to a statement the GP made a "significant investment" in the company. Documents filed at Companies House suggests that SEP V's shareholding is between 25-50%.
Previous funding
BioBright was previously funded by the US governmental organisation Defense Advances Research Projects Agency (DARPA).
Company
BioBright provides software that automates the flow of data from laboratory instruments to a secure cloud. Founded in 2015, the company is based in Boston, US.
