
Highland leads £20m round for Farewill
Highland Europe has led a ТЃ20m funding round for online probate service Farewill.
The round values the company at £70m, according to reports.
Highland is currently investing from its Technology Growth III fund, which closed on €463m in June 2018.
New investors included Keen Ventures, Broadhaven Ventures, Venture Founders and Headspace CEO Rich Pierson. Existing investors including Augmentum Fintech, Kindred Capital and the private investor Taavet Hinrikus also took part.
Farewill said the funds raised will finance expansion, including a threefold increase in employee numbers.
Previous funding
In 2015, the company received a grant of £90,400 from SBRI Healthcare.
In 2016, Saatchinvest, Kindred Capital and business angels Errol Damelin and Alexander Chesterman invested £400,000.
In 2017, JamJar Investments invested an undisclosed amount in the company.
In January 2019, Argentum Fintech and Microsoft led a £7.5m funding round for the company, which also included existing VC investors, as well as Tiny VC, VentureFounders and TransferWise.
Company
Founded in 2015, Farewill is based in London. The company launched its first product, will-writing services, in December 2016, while the second product, probate, was launched in early 2019. The company's third product is cremation. The company employs 90 people.
