BGF injects £3.2m into Environmental Essentials
Business Growth Fund (BGF) has invested £3.2m in Environmental Essentials, a UK-based provider of asbestos management, training and surveying services.
The company stated it would use the fresh capital to open a national asbestos training centre in Stoke-on-Trent and a new office in Aberdeen. The latter will be focused on the oil and gas sector, and is expected to lead to further job creation across the business.
BGF's funding will also support bolt-ons for the business in the future, focusing on both asbestos services and complementary health & safety and compliance companies across the UK.
BGF recently scored a couple of deals back to back, investing in Northern Ireland-based house builder Braidwater and injecting £6.4m into Thai restaurant chain Giggling Squid at the end of November.
Company
Founded in 2004, Environmental Essentials provides asbestos management, training and surveying services. It serves corporates such as Asda, Marks & Spencer, The Co-operative Group and Savills, as well as local authorities and public sector clients.
The company is based in Stoke-on-Trent and is expected to generate a £10m turnover for 2015.
People
Mark Freer, Paul Brindley and Saarung Shah led the deal for BGF. Simon Cashmore, the current CEO of BGF portfolio company TCL Group, will join Environmental Essentials' board as non-executive chairperson.
